Dare Mighty Things

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those timid spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Teddy Roosevelt

Beginnings...

I've decided to see for myself what all the fuss is about and join the blogosphere. Who doesn't enjoy a little voyeurism? Don't get me wrong I'm fascinated by other people's blogs, it's just hard for me to believe that anyone would be interested in mine. But I take it that's not the point. Apparently, this medium is an opportunity for my inner blah-blah-blah to be typed out and sent through the tiny high speed cables that "connect" me to the rest of the world...or is it the other way around? Tomorrow is the first day of my first 2009 training macrocycle. I've thoroughly enjoyed the last 6 transition weeks. I'm probably about 90% recovered from my nagging AT issue, but I'm 100% ready to get started. I've got an incredibly ambitious 2009 planned for my 4th decade on the planet. Looking to race in ten different endurance sports next year. It's my own crazy slow-twitch decathlon; snowshoe, XC ski, winter adventure, trail, road racing, mountain bike, orienteering, off-road triathlon, kayak, and summer adventure racing. Jack of nearly all endurance trades...master of none. As I get older I realize how incredibly interesting my training and racing can be if I reach just beyond the length of my own possibilities. Tomorrow is the first weigh-in of "2009".
